Part 1に引き続き、物の値段の言い方と値段の尋ね方を学びます。マーティンは土曜日の朝催される農産物を扱う市場に買い物に来ています。

  This is English USA, on the Voice of America. Now, Lesson 50, Part 2.
   

 

MALE:

Hello.

 

MARTIN:

Good morning.

 

MALE:

Don't I know you?

 

MARTIN:

We've met.

 

MALE:

Where?

 

MARTIN:

Here. At the market. We met last year. I'm a reporter.

 

MALE:

Oooh. I remember. You asked a lot of questions about the market. You were writing a story about the farmers market.

 

MARTIN:

That's right. I wrote a story for the radio.

 

MALE:

It's good to see you. How are you?

 

MARTIN:

I'm fine thanks. How are you?

 

MALE:

OK. What do you need?

 

MARTIN:

How much is the corn?

 

MALE:

It's a dollar for twelve ears. How many do you need?

 

MARTIN:

Twelve.

 

 

 

 

FEMALE:

May I help you?

 

MARTIN:

How much are the carrots?

 

FEMALE:

Fifty cents a bunch.

 

MARTIN:

How much are the squash?

 

FEMALE:

The green ones are seventy-five cents a bag. The yellow ones are a dollar a bag.

 

MARTIN:

How much are the green peppers?

 

FEMALE:

They're three for a dollar.

 

MARTIN:

How much are the red peppers?

 

FEMALE:

They're three dollars a pound.

 

MARTIN:

OK. I want everything. Carrots, green squash, and red peppers. How much is that?

 

FEMALE:

That's four dollars and twenty-five cents.

 

 

 

 

MARTIN:

Hi. I need some green beans.

 

MALE:

I have two kinds. Which one do you want?

 

MARTIN:

Those small ones. No. Wait. I bought green beans.

 

MALE:

Mine are better.

 

MARTIN:

No, I didn't. How much are the green beans?

 

MALE:

They're a dollar a bag.

 

MARTIN:

Give me two bags please.

 

MALE:

OK. Anything else?

 

MARTIN:

How much is the lettuce?

 

MALE:

Two dollars a pound.

 

MARTIN:

Can I buy half a pound?

 

MALE:

Sure.

MARTIN:

How much is the bread?

 

FEMALE:

It's a dollar and fifty cents. Please try some.

 

MARTIN:

I want the brown bread.

 

FEMALE:

Buy a white one too.

 

MARTIN:

OK. I want the small cake too.

 

FEMALE:

Do you want some cookies?

 

MARTIN:

No, thanks. I have cookies.

The red ones. But I like all flowers.

 

MARTIN:

Do you grow them?

 

FEMALE:

Of course. I grow them in my garden.

 

MARTIN:

How much are the flowers?

 

FEMALE:

This bunch is a dollar. This one is two dollars. And this bunch is three dollars.

 

MARTIN:

May I have one bunch of the red flowers. And one bunch of these yellow ones.

 

FEMALE:

Good. That's four dollars.
