MARTIN:

These robots are very interesting, Bernice. Do any robots talk?

BERNICE:

This one is voice activated and it talks.

MARTIN:

What does voice activated mean?

BERNICE:

You can talk to it.

MARTIN:

What can I talk about?

BERNICE:

You can tell it the work to do. Look.  Charlie. Clean forward.

BERNICE:

Charlie. Clean backward.

BERNICE:

Tell it to stop.

Charlie is my husband's name.

MARTIN:

I see.

BERNICE:

Charlie speaks three sentences. Listen.

CHARLIE:

Turn me off. Turn me off. Turn me off.

MARTIN:

What else does he say?

BERNICE:

Listen.

CHARLIE:

I am empty. I am empty. I am empty. I am --

BERNICE:

That's enough, Charlie. Don't you love Charlie?

Yes. We make six robots. Come see the other robots.

She? Why she?

SANDY:

She's a good worker. She's smart. She's not very big.

What is her name?

SANDY:

Name? She doesn't have a name.

MARTIN:

I met Charlie a few minutes ago.

SANDY:

I see.

BERNICE:

She's not very intelligent. She's simple. She moves this way. Then she moves that way. That's it. But look at this robot.

SANDY:

This robot is new.

MARTIN:

What does it do?

SANDY:

It paints.

BERNICE:

It has six arms.

MARTIN:

And it has fingers.

SANDY:

It paints the outside. Then it paints the inside. Then it puts a label outside.

MARTIN:

What does it paint?

SANDY:

Anything. It can paint square things, or round things. It can paint small things, or big things.

That's amazing.
